Natal Pluto in the 12th House

With natal Pluto in the 12th house, the chart owner will definitely experience a very intense life. This placement is a rather complex one, and is not the easiest to find. On the other hand, the transformation that it grants may evolve the native to a totally conscious human being with deep wisdom concerning life, death and existence.

Pluto is usually signifying a trauma connected with the house where it is placed in, and when in the 12th house it can indicate quite a lot of issues concerning the native’s subconscious. The twelfth house represents the last hours before birth, and Pluto’s presence may show a near-death experience of the infant native. There might be a lot of difficulties during labor, and the child might feel a lot of pain both before and during birth.

As the 12th house is also ruling secrets and hidden things, the individual with such a placement is strongly drawn towards them. He might be extremely curious in possessing answers for his questions, and can become an exquisite researcher or investigator. People with such an aspect will literally drink information to satisfy their curiosity, but will rarely speak themselves about their own secrets.

And they might have a lot of them, especially connected with their sexuality. Pluto is representing a quite raw, aggressive and obsessive part of the human sexuality; while placed in the twelfth it can bring a lot of sexual fantasies- especially of a violent nature. If Pluto is adversely aspected, the native may have experienced sexual assault or even rape, which he usually will try to hide from everyone. People with such a natal Pluto might actually attract subconsciously such types of events, as such fantasies can simultaneously bring them lust and fear.

Of course, in case that you have such an aspect, the best way to handle such raw energies is symbolically bring them to life with your significant other or a person you trust. In addition, an individual can develop strong masochistic tendencies if Pluto is adversely aspected by Saturn or Mars. Such aspects can be connected with deep psychological wounds from the childhood, and in case they are present in a natal chart the individual is advised to speak to a psychologist.

As the 12th house can have even an influence on one’s body (especially if a planet is near the Ascendant), Pluto can become even physically dangerous. The 12th house is an open gate, and an ill-aspected Pluto can indicate becoming victim of black magic, and generally having powerful enemies. If you have such a placement, keep in mind that 12th house enemies are usually hidden from our eyes; the best way to understand a Plutonian enemy is see who has a rather obsessive behavior towards us and reasons for being jealous and controlling. On the other hand, a well aspected Pluto here acts as a strong shield, which not only protects from hidden enemies but can also return them any attempts of causing malice.

The 12th house rules all types of restriction, whether it is in an institution or in one’s own mind. Pluto here can bring intense isolation from the rest of the world, especially when a slow-moving planet is forming a transiting aspect towards Pluto. During such periods, the native’s psychic ability is being strengthened, and he can understand a lot of the mind’s functions. The natal chart owner has abilities of re-programming his subconscious, and Pluto here will definitely bring transformative experience – usually concerning healing from traumas. The effects of such a healing will be permanent; yet the slow pace of Pluto indicates that a lot of time must be dedicated in order to fight one’s own demons.

Such a powerful planet in the 12th house shows a lot of behind the scenes activities, and to understand better how it functions one must observe which house cusp falls in Scorpio. In addition, aspects from Pluto to other natal planets will also indicate life areas where the native will operate secretly. In any case, Pluto placed here indicate high possibilities of secret sexual affairs.

The native will also have tendencies of oppressing anger, rage and wrath deep inside him. This placement indicates a lack of healthy externalization of these powers. Many times people with such placements will prefer to hide their real emotions; both due to fear of hurting others and of fearing to lose control. With this placement, an individual is obliged to find healthy ways to release such feelings. If he does not find, the Plutonian energy can erupt unexpectedly and very self-destructively.

In any case, this natal aspect may be one of the most difficult to handle. The dark traits of Pluto can be even hidden in the core of one’s existence, so tightly bonding with the general life perception that the only way is accepting them. The native with such a natal placement should invest a lot of effort into understanding his own self, especially the dark sides of his life and character. When he will see the big picture, and realize that even his darkness is a result of underground subconscious currents, he will finally find ways to accept it and embrace it.

This is an astute analysis of Pluto in the 12th…in fact..your analyses in general is very insightful. From my own experience with this aspect in my natal chart I can confirm that this lifetime has been a completion of any karmic debt. I was subjected to psychological and physical abuse as a child from a mentally ill parent who was in and out of mental institutions. After escaping this parent, I then was subjected to the control and mental abuse of an alcoholic, military parent . I do have a natal T-square with Pluto, Saturn and Sun. Pluto is also about death and regeneration. Death to the illusions of this world and regeneration found through conscious transformation. In order to live in this world, the 12th house Pluto person has to completely dependent on the spirit or energy body. This process won’t put you on the cover of People magazine, however, you have the opportunity to free yourself from the cycle of birth and death and to be free from this dimension. Once you accept the ‘terms of engagement’… the pull of this world diminishes and you get to experience real freedom.

I have this placement… everything written here is true to me. I’m ashamed to admit that. I’m currently embarking on a spiritual journey and since have been digging deep inside myself. Reflecting on past relationships… I’m just speechless. I almost feel like my foundation has crumbled.

i have cancer mars 9th square libra pluto in the 12th right next to 1st Uranus in scorpio! feels as if ive been given the complexities of the universe to play with like a child plays with lego and I’m at the most ease with myself and the world in general when I submit fully to acting spiritually and not caring what people think at all.

its like having a very advanced fusion reactor in your possession and using it to cook your toast when people are amazed by it saying oh that? that’s a hobby…:0

I got a Scorpio Ascendant, Scorpio Moon and Cancer Sun. The way this aspect has effected my life, is by me being completely oblivious to my own actions and having no knowledge of thinking properly, up until I was 17 when my Gemini Mars and Venus were in transit with my 5th house.

Hmm…interesting article. I have this placement…from what I’ve experienced, there’s a part of me that I fail to realize and find to be locked. If that makes sense. Growing up I found that I could never really get angry at people. There would be times when the feeling would flair up and I had every reason to be pissed, but it just flickers out. Everything just recedes, I’m left internalizing, and just indifferent. There’s a tendency to laugh things off regularly…like hysterics that’s coming from a cynical place yet I come off pleasant to people in general. The usual response is annoyance, sarcasm, and I’m kinda passive aggressive in general.

Wrath is something my body can’t handle. Sometimes I receive an influx of energy from certain situations or emotions (if I’m open) that I find hard to deal with. When I get really pissed and express actual disdain and rage I end up choking on the energy. It can’t be expressed physically…it often becomes a sporadic psychic episode that I dissociate from myself. Or as I call them my “Carrie” moments. It leaves me calm and in control w/o the embarrassing meltdowns. There’s power in this placement, definitely. It’s nuclear, but deeply entrenched in one’s subconscious and soul. To me it feels like you’re dealing w/ the oversoul or undersoul. This energy attracts so much weird shit and obsessive behavior from people. Literally…I could write essays on this placement and what possibilities it entails; from the mundane to the mystical.

I’m a Scorpio rising w/ Pluto in Scorpio in the 12th, my Sun, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, MC and Neptune all have aspects w/ Pluto. So I guess in that sense Mars (traditional) and Pluto is important in my chart. There’s also a lot of 8th house placements as well…this is a major theme in my life. It sucks. lol
