Natal Moon in Virgo

When a person has his natal Moon in Virgo, the sign will grant a big part of its attributes to everything that the Moon represents in his chart. As the Moon is generally governing our emotional parts, Virgo energy will make the native’s emotions quite connected to communication and the flow of information. Virgo is the sixth sign of the zodiac, and has planet Mercury as its ruling celestial body. It is strongly connected with the sixth house, and all the life matters that are ruled by it. Virgo is a mutable sign belonging to the element of Earth, which makes the Moon act rather stable and analytical. The person’s emotional state will be rather stable, as his feelings and daily mood are always passing through his intellectual filters.

In the sign of Virgo, the Moon is in peregrine condition. Peregrine is a rather neutral condition, where a celestial body does not function neither very potently (as it does when domicile or in exaltation), nor is very weak (as it does when in detriment or fall). The Earth’s satellite can have some difficulties while positioned here, as the Mercurial traits of Virgo may somehow restrict the Moon. In the previous article about natal Moon in Gemini we analyzed how Mercurial energy helps the Moon in expression. Yet, the Virgo Mercury can have the opposite effect. It can make the Moon shy and reserved, patient and unsure, with a tendency to worry more than it should. With Virgo being the natural ruler of the 6th house,  this natal placement is also connected with career-orientated areas of the native’s life. Over-analyzing and under-expressing feelings can be the real problem of this natal position, which may not allow the native to fully relax. More information about the Moon’s potency when received in the signs you can read in the article about the Moon’s Essential Dignities.

We should also note that the Moon changes sign about every two and a half days, as it is the quickest moving celestial body. This means that for calculating the exact placement and sign of our natal Moon, we should be as exact as we can with our time of birth. In some occasions, where the Moon is near the cusp of a new sign, even a mistake of a couple of hours can give us a different Moon sign result.

The Moon is the second brightest object in the sky, our planet’s satellite which influences with its orbit the biorhythms of life. The Moon is impersonated by the ancient Greek goddesses Selene and Artemis (Latin Diana). The Moon governs all liquids on earth, even on a physical level. The Moon’s movement has a direct effect on the tides of the sea, while also on the body liquids of plants and live organisms. It is connected with the divine feminine, and in our charts represents our own mother, other mother figure people of our lives, while also our relations to the female gender.

Thus, when the Moon is in Virgo, it will give a Virgo type of mother. There is high possibility that the mother is bearing quite a lot of Mercurial energy, being responsible for the development of the native’s intelligence. She was probably teaching him speak and read from a rather young age, and her constant communication helped him develop a lot of his intellectual abilities earlier than other children. The mother may have been a teacher, a scientist or a data analyst herself. Alternatively, she may have been exercising Mercurial jobs that include transfer of data and information. As Virgo is the sign that mostly likes recurring patterns, the mother of the native may be a very well-organized person, which in turn she tried to pass to the chart owner as a way of life. She may have very stable daily routines and biorhythms, and maybe even a tendency to clean a lot. All these traits are passing to the native when he is a child as stereotypes, which later manifest in his own life through his sentiments, while also in all the life areas which the Moon rules in his chart.

If the native’s Moon is well aspected, he will perceive his mother as a very smart person, an everlasting source of information. His mother can frequently be of the sign of Virgo or Gemini, as Mercury also rules this sign. Alternatively, his mother may have a lot of planets in Virgo and Gemini, or her Mercury strong by placement and aspects. An adversely aspected Moon may indicate that the mother has problems with hypochondria, her nerves or a character that can be very suspicious of other people. In extreme cases, bad aspects give a mother with mental disorders, obsessive-compulsive behaviors and other type of mental glitches connected to daily routines. Of course, such extremes need difficult aspects to the Moon from other malefic planets to happen, such as oppositions, squares or conjunctions from Mars, Saturn, Uranus or Pluto.

A Virgo Moon person has the gift of being able to fall in love with his work. Such people will be always drawn towards occupations that they like, and will frequently try a lot of jobs before choosing something stable. During this (usually lengthy) process, through each job they will become wiser, and through doing jobs they don’t like they will figure out what they want as a career. The reason behind that phenomenon is their great abilities of analyzing what they cherish and what they hate in an occupation, which then subconsciously makes them build a successful career strategy for their future. In addition, having a good job where they perform well helps them with the emotional security that their Moon desires. The only thing they should be careful of, is to not get lost in their workaholic tendencies and forget to feed their Moon through other types of emotions. They are always good and responsible workers, and will usually do even more than their job duties.

Natives with their Moon in Virgo will definitely develop daily rituals and recurring patterns. They may be very organized concerning keeping their finances balanced, writing down all income and expenses and creating their monthly and annual financial strategy. The same can appear with other plans that they have, as they will always tend to organize all their life areas even for months upfront. When things turn out differently than they planned, they can get nervous and disheartened, but it will not last long and they will continue their planning. They should try a little bit more to see the big picture, than concentrating so much on details.

A Virgo Moon is usually a very trustworthy person. They are rather willing to help, and will especially enjoy in helping another person organize his daily reality and life. As the Moon is connected with food and cooking, an activity they will love is not only cooking together with others, but also teaching them recipes. In addition, such individuals can be very successful in writing about food preparation, and generally creating doctrines and patterns about cooking. This ability can also be used in jobs connected with the food industry, and even in careers of nutritionists and other types of consultants.

A Lunar Virgo will rarely make the first step, waiting to be surer about the situation and the surroundings. They do not rush concerning their opinions and decisions, and have logic as their primary filter. People with this placement can be emotionally tied to their co-workers, with whom they may have daily communication and develop deep friendships. A Virgo Moon will easily get bored among people who cannot enter into deep conversations, and appreciate intelligence. Even if they can be shy in the beginning when meeting new people, as soon as they feel comfortable they will start communicating a lot. They will prefer analytical and deep subjects than small talk, and have a strong natural curiosity. Such people usually love books and reading all type of texts, and show a strong affection towards science and learning the rules behind it. The only real danger this placement can bring is amassing huge amounts of trivial and unimportant information in the native’s mind. In their relationships, they tend to worry about the future instead of enjoying the present. Yet, through harmonic communication they can soften any difficult traits of this placement, and relax. Naturally, such a Mercurial Moon gives the native an urge to be mentally stimulated by the people he feels attracted to.  He cannot stand people who have only physical beauty, and is mostly sapiosexual. Lunar Virgos may have a slight lack of self-confidence about their body and sexuality, without any apparent reason except from hyper-analyzing the archetypes of beauty. Yet, they adore being of service to their significant other, receiving a lot of pleasure through offering instead of receiving.

A slight problem this placement gives is becoming easily anxious when pressured, which can in turn manifest on their body as disturbances of the stomach, the skin and other minor diseases connected with stress. This planetary placement makes all emotional reactions pass as quickly as they manifest. When a Virgo Moon person is angry or irritated, expect that it passes as soon as he concentrates on something more interesting than that. There can be quite a lot of misunderstandings due to overanalyzing, but they are also never of a deep nature.

Individuals with this natal placement like intellectual activity of all types, and hate boredom both in their relations and their everyday reality. The Mercurial energy of this Moon makes them seek people who are also good talkers, and frequently organizing events where talking is the main activity. For such natives, the best way to bond with another person is through common intellectual interests, literature, artistic activities and especially common hobbies and causes.
