Magick can come in many different forms; Sigil, candle, incense, ceremonial/ritual, and energy manipulation/chaos magick. Essentially, magick is the practice of bringing the practitioner’s will into the physical realm, or in whatever form it may manifest. The method used is irrellevent and is solely the magickian’s preference.
Sigil Magick is performed by creating a sigil and charging it with energy. Many practitioners use sexual energy to charge sigils. Check out my article, How To: Perform Sigil Magick for detailed instructions on how to perform this method.
Candle Magick is performed by charging a candle according to its respective color, then lighting it and putting the corresponding energy (often emotional). For instructions on how to get the energy into the candle, check out my article, How To: Manipulate Energy for Magickal Workings.
Incense Magick is performed in a similar fashion as candle magick. The practitioner chooses an incense that has energetic properties that coalign with his/her desire. After lighting the incense, the practitioner forces energy into the stick of incense until it has completely burned out (again, refer to the article, How To: Manipulate Energy for Magickal Workings for instructions on how to do this). The ashes are typically buried.
Ceremonial/Ritual Magick is the traditional form of magick which involves the use of ritual tools, such as athames and chalices. These are representative tools and are not necessary. Many occultists perform rituals for major workings.
Energy Manipulation is the most straightforward way to perform magick. It involves raising, manipulating, and sending energy (typically emotional) and the power of will. Instructions on how to perform this can be found in the articles How To: Raise Energy for Magickal Workings and How To: Manipulate Energy for Magickal Workings.
Chaos Magick has no specific shape, form, or ruling principle. The chaos magickian often sees that the traditional and even modern methods are unnecessary and practices magick in his or her own way. This may include bits and pieces of other more traditional methods, and is often heavily influenced by energy manipulation. Shadow does an excellent job of explaining chaos magick in his article, Introduction to Chaos Magick
Regardless of the methodology used, the outcome is the same; the magickal working will manifest in whatever form possible. Obviously if you’re an amputee, you’re more than likely not going to grow another limb. However, you may have dreams that you did. Make sure you cherish and appreciate the outcome, regardless of what form it may manifest in.
